About The Position

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for evaluating, planning, and providing speech, language, cognitive, voice, and dysphagia services for patients across the lifespan in inpatient and outpatient settings. The SLP develops individualized treatment plans, provides patient and caregiver education, and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communicative Disorders
  • Must hold appropriate certifications and licensures
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Speech Language Therapy field
  • Knowledge of speech-language pathology evaluation and treatment techniques across the lifespan
  • Strong communication, organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Ability to educate, motivate, and build rapport with patients and caregivers
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer systems
  • Demonstrates professionalism, flexibility, sound judgment, confidentiality, and a positive attitude
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, and repetitive hand use
  • Ability to lift, transfer, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently with or without assistance
  • Frequent computer use and documentation throughout the workday
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, and electronic formats
  • Ability to safely perform patient care activities in inpatient and outpatient settings

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to perform video swallow studies strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform speech, language, cognitive, voice, and swallowing evaluations and treatments according to established standards of care
  • Develop, implement, and modify individualized treatment plans based on patient progress and goals
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, rehabilitation staff, patients, and caregivers to support optimal patient outcomes
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, home programs, and safety recommendations
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation, billing, and communication in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Maintain equipment, infection prevention standards, required licensure, and continuing education requirements
  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement activities, and program development initiatives
  • Promote a professional, collaborative, and patient-centered environment consistent with OMC values
