About The Position

As a Smelting Technology Specialist, you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your innovative thinking by developing new ideas and concepts to help frame them into new opportunities at ELYSIS. Reporting to the Smelting Technology Leader; you will be responsible for advancing the ELYSIS electrolysis technology maturity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Electrochemistry, Materials science & Engineering, Metallurgy or equivalent
  • Experience in Project Management or similar responsibilities
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in R&D related activities and environment, smelting preferred
  • Able to present well and ability to teach and explain technical contents and concepts
  • Aptitude in using specialized scientific, statistical or planning softwares (MS Projects, FactSage, JMP, for example)
  • Ability to influence without having direct authority or direct reporting arrangements
  • Be a visionary, be able to listen well, to understand challenges, and identify opportunities others cannot see
  • Understand the fundamental electrochemical and material science
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Enthusiastic team player/good collaborator
  • Passion for solving difficult technical challenges to advance a breakthrough innovation to mitigate the climate crisis in a difficult to abate industry
  • Bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the organization's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) principles by adopting a positive attitude that us zero by choice
  • Advance the technology readiness level (TRL)of the ELYSIS electrolysis technology in collaboration with the advanced modeling and fundamental research teams, and pilot operations teams
  • Identify and develop innovative solutions and participate actively in the option evaluation for the technology development strategy and the gap analysis of the technical solutions
  • Develop and implement a portfolio of electrolysis projects, define clear objectives with economic outcomes including operational/capital costs, monitor KPIs (including scope, schedule and budget) and lead innovative efforts to advance technological solutions
  • Ensure coordination and alignment between modeling, fundamental experimentation, lab and cell experimentation objectives, autopsies, etc. and promote collaboration throughout the different departments
  • Develop test plans for the different platforms aligned with their objectives and roadmap integration
  • Ensure project execution as planned/defined in the roadmap in collaboration with electrolysis operations team (internal and/or client(s))
  • Mentor the Operations engineers to promote a data driven culture using the scientific method
  • Identify and evolve the analytical needs for the ELYSIS electrolysis scale-up and implementation and help maintain control over analytical change
  • Foster collaborative relationships within Operations, Industrialization and Technology departments to ensure optimal efficiency and accelerate technological deployment
  • Adapt and modify technological solutions based on results to meet roadmap objectives
  • Drive a culture of innovation, ensuring the successful execution of ELYSIS’s technology roadmap and breakthrough advancements
