About The Position
The Sow Farm Assistant Supervisor attends to and cares for swine and assists in supervising employees at a sow farm under the direction of the manager. The role supports farm operations by ensuring procedures are followed, animal health and care are maintained, employees are trained and scheduled, records and reports are accurate and timely, and safety and emergency protocols are observed.
Requirements
- Proficiency in English, including reading and writing.
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
- Six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition.
- Maintain herd health and follow company biosecurity requirements.
- Ensure proper feeding and care of animals.
- Maintain accurate records and reports regarding animals, employees, and farm supplies.
- Train employees on day-to-day processes and procedures using hands-on methods.
- Supervise and schedule groups of employees.
- Act as manager when the supervisor is not present.
- Ensure daily and weekly reports are submitted accurately and on time.
- Adhere to safety procedures.
- Follow assigned medication and vaccination protocols for the farm.
- Maintain alarm and emergency systems and respond to alarm calls properly.
