About The Position

At Hearth Pizza Tavern, we do things differently. Scratch-made dough, house-made cheeses, fresh ingredients, oven-fired pizzas, and a fast-paced tavern atmosphere built around quality food and genuine hospitality. We’re looking for a hands-on, high-energy Sous Chef who thrives in a busy kitchen, leads by example, and takes pride in consistency, organization, and team development. Requirements

  • 2+ years of kitchen leadership experience (Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, Lead Line Cook, or similar)
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and hold a team accountable
  • Experience in high-volume, scratch kitchen environments preferred
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and kitchen systems
  • Ability to stay calm, focused, and solutions-oriented under pressure
  • Weekend availability is required
  • Nights and holiday availability expected
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily kitchen operations and service execution in a high-volume environment
  • Supervise, coach, and develop line cooks, prep cooks, and kitchen team members
  • Ensure recipe consistency, proper portioning, presentation standards, and ticket accuracy
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and food cost control
  • Maintain prep production levels and kitchen organization for efficient service
  • Enforce sanitation, food safety, and health department compliance standards
  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and productivity oversight
  • Support menu development, feature items, and recipe execution
  • Step into the kitchen leadership responsibilities in the Chef’s absence
  • Foster a positive, accountable, team-focused kitchen culture
