About The Position

This is a full-time CHEF, SOUS (HOURLY) position located at George Washington University, specifically within Catering at GWU. The role involves assisting the Executive Chef in food preparation and cooking, coordinating the activities of other kitchen staff, and taking charge of the kitchen in the Executive Chef's absence. Requirements

2+ years of prior culinary and supervisory experience in a professional kitchen preferred.

Responsibilities

Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards, ensuring all deadlines are met.
Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils, and cleans workstations thoroughly.
Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies, tracks product production, consumption, and waste, and informs supervisor when supplies are low.
Performs other duties as assigned.
