About The Position

The Peacock Inn is seeking an experienced, team-oriented Sous Chef for a full-time position. The role involves preparing and serving food in assigned work situations, maintaining safe and sanitary kitchen conditions, and assisting with kitchen operations. The employee must be willing to work weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays. The position works in a kitchen environment with noise, heat, temperature changes, odors, moisture, and other kitchen elements.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve foods in assigned work situations, including pantry items, salads, soups, and sauces, and prepare ingredients for entrees.
Assist with ordering and receiving, menu development, cost control, waste management, and staff training procedures.
Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, and the kitchen according to schedules and procedures.
Maintain the assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition.
Handle food in accordance with local health department guidelines.
Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications established by the Executive Chef.
Recognize quality standards for fresh vegetables, fish, dairy, and meat products.
Maintain acceptable standards of personal hygiene and comply with the department dress code.
Follow safety regulations and report injuries, unsafe conditions, and unsafe work practices to the supervisor.
Attend assigned in-service training and education sessions.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested by the Executive Chef and/or General Manager.
