At Carmens Event Centre, you’ll be part of a fast-paced, high-performing kitchen team executing large-scale events that define the Hamilton experience. From elegant weddings and star-studded galas to high-profile charity dinners, corporate functions, and live entertainment, this is where big moments come to life. You’ll hone your craft in large-batch cooking, manage multiple events simultaneously, and help deliver exceptional quality at scale—whether for 50 or 1,500. It’s high-energy, high-impact, and deeply rewarding for those who love the thrill of executing precision under pressure. Requirements

  • 2-3+ years’ experience with banquet, catering or high-volume kitchen environments
  • Excellent knife skills and deep knowledge of cooking techniques
  • Confidence supervising and mentoring kitchen team members
  • Safe Food Handler's Certificate (Required)
  • A passion for food and a drive to do your best every shift
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and event-based hours

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary Trade Certification or Read Seal (an asset)

Responsibilities

  • Lead line and prep teams during banquets, galas & VIP events
  • Manage kitchen operations and ensure timely, high-quality food service
  • Train and supervise kitchen team, maintaining excellence in presentation and consistency
  • Follow, adjust, and create recipes that meet event-specific requirements
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness, safety, and compliance with food safety standards
  • Help manage inventory, food cost, and equipment care
  • Thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments with a cool head and creative edge
