About The Position

Bring your culinary talent and leadership to the Renaissance Mobile Riverview Plaza Hotel, where you'll have the opportunity to help deliver exceptional dining experiences in a dynamic, full-service hotel environment. As Sous Chef, you'll be a hands-on culinary leader responsible for supporting kitchen operations, developing associates, and ensuring consistent quality across the hotel's food and beverage experiences. Working alongside the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage leadership team, you'll help turn culinary standards into memorable experiences for our guests. This is an opportunity for a talented chef who enjoys being in the kitchen, developing people, and balancing creativity with the operational discipline required in a successful full-service hotel.

Requirements

  • Strong culinary experience with the ability to consistently deliver high-quality food, presentation, and execution.
  • A hands-on leader who can train, coach, motivate, and develop culinary associates while maintaining high expectations.
  • Creativity and an interest in contributing to menu development and continuously improving the dining experience.
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, including food handling, sanitation, purchasing, receiving, storage, portioning, and waste control.
  • An organized, collaborative approach with the ability to balance guest satisfaction, culinary standards, and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily kitchen operations by providing hands-on supervision, guidance, training, and support to the culinary team while maintaining high standards for execution.
  • Deliver exceptional culinary experiences by ensuring consistency in food quality, flavor, presentation, portioning, and overall execution.
  • Develop and inspire the team through training, coaching, open communication, and collaboration with culinary, restaurant, catering, and Food & Beverage leadership.
  • Contribute to menu development and culinary creativity, including daily and seasonal offerings designed to enhance the guest experience.
  • Maintain strong operational standards across purchasing, receiving, food storage, ingredient quality, sanitation, food handling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support financial performance by managing food costs, minimizing waste, and using budgets, operating statements, and payroll information to effectively manage resources.
