We are currently seeking a Sourcing and Quality Engineer focusing on the Supply Chain to join the Daktronics Divisional Manufacturing team. This role offers interesting challenges, technical learning and utilization, personal development, and a great culture and people. The role involves utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools, closed-loop quality management systems, and compliance with ISO9001 and EN12966. Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, or science-based degree plus experience or equivalent from a college or technical school.
  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Be able to stand or sit for the entire shift.
  • Effectively exercise discretion and independent judgment.
  • Working knowledge/experience in Lean Manufacturing, Quality, and Six Sigma implementation.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, and self-motivation are required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business communications, governmental regulations, industry standards, technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees, customers, and suppliers.
  • Ability to travel overnight to domestic and international locations.
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and digital photo editing.
  • The selected individual must be able to travel by air and ground and comply with the Daktronics Driver Eligibility Policy to begin and maintain employment. This requirement will be verified through a motor vehicle record (MVR) check conducted in accordance with applicable federal, state, provincial, and local laws.
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with various quality tools such as 8D, FMEA, DoE, SPC, and various problem-solving tools.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 requirements.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Supplier Quality Professional (CSQP), or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in statistical packages (such as Mini tab).
  • Familiarity with Daktronics products and internal processes and computer systems.
  • Three to five years of experience in product design engineering.
  • Three to five years’ experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment or Supplier Quality is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Stay or become connected with Product and Process Engineering while advancing your understanding on how business operates.
  • Grow in perspective as a problem solver to see and attack problems from various angles, including aspects of product and process design, manufacturability, sourcing, qualification, ongoing supplier quality monitoring/improvement, and product reliability.
  • Advance your knowledge of High Consistency and High Complexity value streams. Gain knowledge in how the fulfillment layer, design and development layer, and create demand layer are intertwined.
  • Utilize Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools like 8D, SPC, FMEA, PPAP, DoE.
  • Implement Closed-Loop Quality Management systems including Non-Conformances (NC), Temporary Deviation Request (Variance), Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), First Article Inspection (FAI), Supplier Quality Audits.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and EN12966.
  • Readily discover and adopt emerging technologies.
  • Develop commodity strategies enabling value stream success considering global dynamics risks including tariffs, pandemics, political unrest, natural disasters, logistical constraints, etc.
  • Collaborate with suppliers directly while fostering a partner relationship.
  • Skillfully negotiate with the best interest of multiple stakeholders in mind while navigating through ambiguity.
  • Participate in 1:1’s, reflect/plans, and career conversations.
