About The Position

After completing an ESA specific training program, you will be responsible for performing ESA services primarily for external suppliers located both domestically and internationally. Specific tasks include assessing part forging processes for compliance to product definition data and engineering design intent, resulting in the disposition of requests for initial approvals, changes and inadvertent variations. Assessment activity will involve defining approval plans, performing on-site witnessing of processes, reviewing processing documentation and process simulations, analyzing mechanical test data and metallurgical findings, and using statistical tools to determine process capability.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent is required and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of large structural forgings and/or rolled ring forgings.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teaming skills required for interfacing with people of diverse backgrounds and personalities.
  • The ability to work well in a fast paced production type environment.
  • The ability to rapidly react to business needs.
  • Good analytical and observational skills.
  • Must be able to work in a self-directed manner.
  • Willing to occasionally provide coverage during off-hours, as business demands dictate.

Nice To Haves

  • An understanding of P&W’s design, manufacturing and quality systems, or experience with the ESA approval process, is a plus.
  • Knowledge of associated shop practices, alloy working methods and tooling, nickel and titanium metallurgy, metallurgical evaluation methods, mechanical property testing techniques, heat treatment, process simulations and statistical evaluation techniques, are desired.
