About The Position

The Sorting Room Worker receives, sorts, prices, and prepares donated items for display in the store. The worker determines whether items are suitable for display and sets prices according to established standards, while helping maintain an orderly and clean warehouse area. The position is part-time, located at the NSC-Spartanburg Family Store in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and is scheduled Monday through Saturday with varying hours. The listed pay is $9.65 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Physical ability to frequently lift and carry, or push and pull, heavy materials, supplies, and equipment weighing more than 25 pounds.
Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders or steps, bending, reaching, and transporting merchandise, with fewer periods of sitting.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a retail store is preferred.
Equivalent combinations of training and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Responsibilities

Receive, inspect, and sort donated clothing, shoes, household items, bric-a-brac, and other items by category and condition.
Select items suitable for store display and distribute them to the appropriate areas for further sorting or pricing.
Discard items according to established procedures.
Maintain the warehouse area in a neat and orderly manner.
Clean floors, tables, and work areas.
