About The Position
Waste Connections is hiring a Sorter for its team in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The position involves manually sorting recyclable materials from waste on a fast-moving sorting line, removing trash and contaminants to maintain clean commodity streams, and keeping the work area and facility clean. The role starts at 4:00 a.m. and averages approximately 10–11 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with a 4:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. shift on Saturdays. Pay is $19.25 per hour, with approximately 10 hours of overtime weekly; overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours.
Requirements
- Ability to work in all weather conditions.
- Ability to repeatedly lift at least 50 pounds.
Responsibilities
- Pick and separate recyclables, including plastics, metals, paper, and cardboard, from waste on a fast-moving sorting line.
- Remove trash, non-recyclable materials, and hazardous contaminants to ensure clean commodity streams.
- Keep the work area, sorting line, and surrounding floors clean and clear of debris.
