About The Position

Fastenal is hiring a part-time, entry-level Sortation employee at its distribution center in Indianapolis, Indiana. The role helps move products through the distribution center to company-owned branches by organizing outgoing orders into totes and pallets for shipping. The position may offer a flexible schedule after onboarding and training and once performance goals are met.

Requirements

Proficient written and oral communication skills.
Proficient computer skills.

Strong math aptitude, attention to detail, and sense of urgency.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Willingness to work a flexible schedule and extra time as needed.

Ability to lift, slide, carry, and lower packages typically weighing 25–50 pounds and sometimes up to 100 pounds.
Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and Guam only).

Responsibilities

Operate computer programs, RF scanners, and printers to label products.
Organize shipments into the correct containers.
Pack products in layers to ensure stability and efficient use of space.
Identify fragile products and process them accordingly.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
