About The Position

This position is responsible for performing assigned duties in the crushing/preparation and conveyance of raw material into the process facility. The role involves conducting tasks in a safe and efficient manner, with responsibility for the inspection, care, and cleaning of the assigned operating area. Shift work is required.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Previous experience or education demonstrating the ability to monitor equipment for proper operation and perform tasks related to maintaining product quality.
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts.
  • PC literate and proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access to analyze and communicate information.
  • Must be able to navigate an ERP to issue work requests and review inventory.
  • Ability to interact effectively with others and work as a member of a team.
  • Concise, complete, legible and well organized written communications are essential.
  • Must be able to plan and organize a schedule that is conducive to position duties.
  • Must have the ability to independently and effectively plan, organize, coordinate and follow-up on assignments.

  • Experience in a process plant in the mining / minerals industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts routine sampling of raw material fed to the process facility.
  • Forwards material to the control room for analysis.
  • Obtains a shift composite sample and forwards to the lab for analysis.
  • Continuously inspects 20-30 pieces of equipment in the assigned area of responsibility, including crushers, conveyor systems, pumps, idlers, gearboxes, and motors.
  • Visually inspects belts for proper alignment and signs of fraying or general wear.
  • Listens for unusual noises emanating from equipment.
  • Monitors temperatures of bearings for unusual heat.
  • Reports problems to the control room and logs all entries accordingly.
  • Monitors product spillage, proactively prevents such occurrences and cleans up accordingly.
  • Performs other functions as directed by the supervisor or control board operator.
  • Follows established safety and housekeeping rules and reports, and/or, corrects unsafe conditions.
  • Ensures the area is clean, safe, and free of product buildup and other EHS hazards as measured by routine daily inspections.
  • Ensures crushing operations are not disrupted due to inattention to signs of potential equipment problems.
  • Accurately documents spills, leaks, belt wear, unusual noise or heat etc. on the equipment inspection check sheet.
  • Delivers samples timely (every two hours).
  • Obtains samples from proper areas, in proper quantities as per input from lab tech.
  • Ensures crushing area log entries reflect a complete accounting of relevant shift information, accuracy and legibility.
