About The Position

Texas Health Dallas is hiring a PRN Sonographer II to perform imaging across the emergency department, inpatient, outpatient, and surgery settings. The role uses Philips EPIQ equipment and includes rotating shifts, holiday coverage, and participation in a minimum call rotation. The sonographer explains procedures to patients or their representatives, obtains images of the correct anatomical area and pathology according to department protocols, and assists radiologists with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique. The position also processes and manipulates images, assesses image quality, troubleshoots, suggests differential diagnoses, follows downtime procedures for PACS and HIS/RIS, and sends and transfers images to PACS.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) required before providing independent patient care and must be maintained quarterly.
ARRT Sonography certification with one additional modality required upon hire, or ARDMS certification with two additional modality certifications required upon hire.
RVT or VT(RVS) certification as one modality is required upon hire if performing vascular sonography.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of an AMA-approved/accredited ultrasound program preferred.
Associate degree preferred.
Two years of experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

Explain procedures to patients or, when applicable, their guardians or family members before and during exams.
Image the correct anatomical area of interest and pathology according to department protocols.
Assist radiologists with complex and invasive procedures using aseptic technique.
Process and manipulate images, analyze image quality, troubleshoot, and suggest differential diagnoses.
Use appropriate downtime procedures for PACS and HIS/RIS.
Send and transfer images to PACS correctly.
