About The Position

The Sonographer-Echocardiology assists in performing simple and complex diagnostic procedures on patients with cardiac and vascular dysfunctions. Utilizes all cardiac and vascular ultrasound modalities (e.g. 2D, Mode, Doppler, color flow, transesophageal, stress echo, arterial and venous ultrasound imaging and measurements). Produces quality echo and vascular imaging and works with cardiologists throughout the facility including surgery. Prepares records for reviewing by the cardiologists for interpretation. Applies theoretical concepts to clinical practice and continually expands their knowledge base and clinical skills. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from a two-year accredited program required.
  • Minimum of one year echocardiography or vascular ultrasound required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.
  • Able to read, write legibly, speak in English with professional quality.
  • Use computer, printer, fax, software programs necessary to the position.
  • Troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Perform technical patient care activities.
  • Communicate in English, relate positively, effectively, and professionally.
  • Be assertive and consistent in following and or enforcing policies.
  • Work calmly and respond with courtesy when under pressure.
  • Lead, supervise, teach and collaborate.
  • Accept direction.
  • Communicate effectively in English, in person, in writing, and on the telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • Dual certification in Echocardiogram and Vascular Ultrasound preferred.
  • Minimum one year clinical rotation experience in assigned area of specialty may be considered in lieu of work experience.
