Job Summary: Location: Methodist Physicians Clinic - West Dodge Medical Plaza Address: 515 N 162nd Ave - Omaha, NE Work Schedule: This is a casual position. Casual employees work on an 'as needed' basis to meet the needs of the business. Work days & hours will often vary from week to week Monday through Friday, hours between 8am - 4:30pm Coordinates and performs vascular procedures.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited vascular or echocardiogram technical program (2 year program) required.
  • 2 years of clinical experience in field of vascular or echo and board registered preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registered or board eligible required.
  • Registered Vascular Tech (RVT) or Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS required within one year of employment required.
  • Certification or registry in an accredited society within one year of employment to continue employment required.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with patients and family members as well as hospital personnel and coworkers.
  • Ability to effectively organize work in order to perform several tasks at once.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and performs cardiac or vascular procedures according to the department policy and procedures approved by the Medical Director and pertinent governing body using digital imaging. Selects from work list 100% of the time or follows the correct down time guidelines for patient demographic information in order to pass the information to medical records. Works closely with Information Technology (IT) when the work list is not working. Information Technology (IT) feedback and notification of manual scanning of finalized results for medical records. Competency check list on each procedure by technical director.
  • Obtains accurate patient history, appropriate indications for the study and critical measurements for physician's interpretation. Feedback from physicians, peers, business office and medical records. Obtain signed consent for Medicare patients if test is not covered.
  • Acquires all images digitally and assigns the images to a physician for final interpretation. All studies sent and edited within 24 hours of procedure. Feedback from Medical Records for completion of orders and results in Cerner.
  • Educates the patient on procedure that is being performed BEFORE the procedure begins and checks for understanding from patient. Ask patients if education was given before exam by supervisor on a prn basis. Rounding for outcomes Ask patient if educational material was given to them by ordering physician's office
  • Log each patient on log sheet and bill appropriately in Cerner following the procedure. Feedback from Business office and Medical Records
  • Give critical lab results to the ordering department and instruct them to read back the results for clarification and understanding per department policy. Document on log sheet who the critical lab result was given to and that they were read back to the sonographer. Initial log sheet after results are read back Round for outcomes on positive results
  • Collaborates in maintaining proper inventory and works with Information Technology (IT) and Bio-Med when equipment or system goes down. Keeps manager informed of maintenance issues and IT system issues Feedback from Information Technology (IT) (PACS project manager) Feedback from Bio-Med on ultrasound and SAP equipment issues
  • Provides appropriate care specific to the patient to ensure understanding and comfort level of treatment is provided as outlined by the age specific criteria guidelines. Review age specific criteria annually.
