About The Position

Performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice. This position works a variable schedule of 16 hours per week including weekend and holidays. Will work at hospital and outpatient site.

Requirements

  • Completion of formal training in an Ultrasound program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
  • 2 years of experience required in primary specialty.
  • Must hold registry in each specialty.
  • Performance review consistent with minimum of strong/ Solid performance on last performance review.
  • Must maintain 2 imaging registries/certifications and maintain competency in both as required by hiring Business Unit.
  • Must be willing and demonstrate flexibility to be assigned to any of the maintained registries by leadership.
  • Must provide flexibility to work least one off-shift (evening, nights or weekend), every 90 days as requested by imaging leadership.
  • CPR or BLS Preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Responsibilities

  • Exhibits advanced level of knowledge related to normal anatomy and pathology. Able to recognize pathology and the ability to think critically, assessing the patient results for communication with the physician.
  • Works as a team member within assigned departments to expedite patient care efficiently by demonstrating excellent communication and customer service skills. Effectively communicates with physicians, co-workers, managers, and patients in assigned sites and/or departments.
  • Perform ultrasound diagnostic examinations in accordance with Level I Sonographer.
  • Performs or assists Clinical Specialist in performing QA, regulatory testing, and other technical and research initiatives.
  • Maintains flexibility to work within different clinical areas to support the needs of the departments and/or business units to ensure that staffing is adequate to support services across the enterprise. Maintains assigned workflow patterns at site based on patient volumes and continually communicates with supervisors and/or managers.
  • Conveys results to patients and ordering clinicians where appropriate and when given permission by attending physician.
  • Demonstrates the ability to function independently, and is able to cover off shifts, on-call responsibilities, and perform services at satellite facilities, where applicable, while continually communicating with lead and management team.
  • Works directly with Radiologists regarding protocol development.
  • Participates in standardization activities with system-level workgroups.
  • Assist with the training of staff and student sonographers.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn new skills and a willingness to educate others in their areas of expertise. Serves as a resource for new hires and students.
  • May be responsible for High Level Disinfection of devices, supplies and/or equipment
