About The Position

Upscale French cuisine downtown NYC. The very talented Executive Chef Heloïse Fischbach balances classical training with avant-garde technique in a thoughtful reimagining of seasonal French cuisine at this downtown gem linked to the Romain and Williams interior design store. We are seeking dedicated, detail-driven, culinary professionals who have a strong passion for food, technique, and an eagerness to learn more, which comes with the opportunity to build on your skills and grow as a leader in the kitchen. The ideal candidate is devoted to becoming an integral member of a team that values a strong work ethic and also has the desire to learn and hone the craft of French cooking. This Sommelier position works closely with the Wine Director and front-of-house leadership to ensure seamless wine service and overall guest experience.

Requirements

  • Previous experience with French wine regions or fine dining is required.
  • 2–3 years of experience as a Sommelier
  • Solid foundational wine knowledge and a strong interest in continued learning
  • Strong service instincts and comfort working on the floor
  • Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to lift and move cases of wine as part of cellar responsibilities
  • The use of a medium weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer.
  • The use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steamtables.
  • The use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Providing knowledgeable, gracious, and attentive wine service on the floor
  • Assisting members and guests with wine selections and pairings
  • Supporting all aspects of dining room service as part of the broader FOH team
  • Executing proper wine service standards
  • Performing cellar work, including organization, labeling, storage, and inventory upkeep
  • Assisting with receiving, stocking, and maintaining the wine cellar
  • Supporting wine education and training for the service team as directed
  • Working collaboratively with FOH staff and management to deliver a cohesive guest experience
