About The Position

Yellowstone Club's Food & Beverage department is currently seeking candidates for a Sommelier. The expectation of Sommeliers at The Yellowstone Club is to oversee beverage service in the dining room and ensure our membership is provided world class hospitality. The Sommelier will also assist with the inventory and management of the wine cellar, the growth of our wine and beverage program for their outlet, and service in general.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of beer, classic wine service, beverage selection knowledge and experience; 3 years minimum of floor service.
  • Must be able to demonstrate an extensive depth of knowledge on wine.
  • Have a basic understanding of financial calculations and controls, including pricing wines correctly, conducting inventory, etc.
  • Positive, outgoing personality, with good written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proactive and takes initiative
  • Well organized
  • Able to work fast and calm under pressure
  • In-depth working knowledge of food and beverage preparation and presentation
  • Proficient in computer use, various POS systems, Excel and Word

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working as a sommelier, or retail wine sales are encouraged, but not required
  • Previous experience working in a private-club environment is encouraged, but not required
  • Court of Master Sommeliers, WSET, or similar certification programs are encouraged, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that each member and guest receive outstanding guest service in a guest friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every member and guest, maintaining outstanding service standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of guest service.
  • Be a leader in service as a part of the dining room team
  • Engage with members & assist in wine and beverage selection
  • Execute excellent wine service
  • Manage corkage wines brought into the restaurant
  • Oversee the management of wine inventory within your outlet
  • Maintain a clean and organized cellar
  • Ensure Montana alcohol regulations are adhered to
  • Ensure compliance to health, safety and hygiene standards and records
  • Build and maintain member relationships
  • Lead regular staff education within your outlet, and assist with club-wide beverage education
  • Assist with all aspects of service, including but not limited to, running food and servicing tables
  • Attend required meetings
  • Keep current with trends in the restaurant industry and community
