About The Position

This position is on the food and beverage team and provides an expertly served wine experience for guests during dinner service in the fine dining outlet; anticipating the guests’ needs as an expert on wine offerings and food pairing recommendations.

Requirements

  • High school education, college degree specializing in hospitality, Sommelier Certifications or equivalent experience
  • Strong food & beverage knowledge is required
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Passion for service
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule and holidays
  • Sommelier experience in a fast-paced fine dining restaurant setting preferred
  • Vast knowledge of wines and food pairings are crucial
  • Must be a self-starter, possess a positive attitude and be comfortable working alongside a team of Food & Beverage professionals
  • This role has direct contact with guests and as such, good communication skills are a necessity
  • Fluency in English is required for this location and this job requires applicants to have current work authorization in the in the United States
  • Must be able to stand for 8 hours

  • Strong knowledge of French and American wines preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create a wonderful dining experience by connecting with guests and maintaining an exceptional knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and mixed drinks and information about menu item preparation methods.
  • Advise the guest on wine selection and to supervise the day-to-day wine service.
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly wine inventories of the Chemin a la Mer dining outlet.
  • Assists servers with wine service and checks back with guests to assure their satisfaction.
  • Keep in contact with wine storeroom and restaurant manager to ensure availability and correctness of products.
  • Communicate with other team members for support and accuracy of table service delivery.
  • Curate and maintain an exceptional wine list aligned with the restaurant’s concept and seasonal menus.
  • Stay updated on global wine trends, emerging regions, and sustainable practices.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and inventory management of wines and premium beverages.
  • Provide detailed, engaging descriptions of wines and beverages, including origin, varietal, tasting notes, and production methods.
  • Recommend wine pairings to complement dishes and enhance the dining experience.
  • Organize and lead wine tastings or pairing events for guests.
  • Oversee wine service standards: correct glassware, serving temperature, and presentation.
  • Support the service team during peak hours with wine service and guest interaction.
  • Train F&B staff on wine and spirits knowledge, including: Wine regions and varietals, Food and wine pairing principles and Responsible alcohol service.
  • Coordinate with suppliers for exclusive selections and promotional opportunities.
  • Maintain professional and harmonious relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
