About The Position

As a Senior Sales Engineer/Solutions Architect, you will own the technical side of Venn’s most complex enterprise deals, partnering with Account Executives on strategic accounts. You will lead technical sales from discovery through architecture review, security sign-off, proof of concept, and close. Customers include CISOs, CIOs, IT architects, and security and compliance leaders at large, regulated organizations seeking to replace or reduce VDI, secure contractor and BYOD access, and meet audit requirements. You will design solutions that work with customers’ identity, endpoint, network, and compliance environments and demonstrate their effectiveness in customer settings. This is a senior individual-contributor role with influence over technical evaluations, demos, proofs of concept, and product direction. The role combines engineering, consulting, and storytelling, and requires communicating technical detail to both practitioners and executives.

Requirements

  • 10+ years in a technical pre-sales role such as Sales Engineer or Solutions Architect at a SaaS or security company, including at least 5 years selling to large enterprise and regulated customers.
  • Track record leading the technical side of six- and seven-figure deals involving multiple stakeholders, long sales cycles, and formal security review.
  • Experience running structured proofs of concept with defined success criteria that convert to closed-won deals.
  • Strong expertise in end-user computing, Windows environments, and virtual desktop infrastructure such as Citrix, VMware Horizon, Azure Virtual Desktop, or Windows 365, including the limitations that lead customers to seek alternatives.
  • Hands-on identity and access experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Microsoft 365, Okta, and Google Workspace, including SSO, SAML/OIDC, conditional access, and MFA.
  • Solid grounding in networking and secure access, including VPN, ZTNA, proxies, DNS, firewalls, and secure browsing.
  • Working knowledge of endpoint security (EDR/XDR, MDM/UEM), DLP, data-protection controls, and their behavior on unmanaged and contractor devices.
  • Fluency in compliance and regulatory frameworks such as PCI DSS, HIPAA, SEC, FINRA, and SOC 2, including mapping product controls to audit requirements.
  • Comfort scripting and working with APIs using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools to build demos, automate POCs, and troubleshoot in customer environments.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with technical and executive audiences and explain architecture and business value.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to translate technical depth into clear, customer-focused value.
  • Consultative discovery skills, including uncovering underlying customer problems rather than only stated requirements.
  • Strong ownership and judgment, including prioritizing across deals, knowing when to involve Product or Engineering, and enabling Account Executives.
  • Comfortable traveling to customer sites and events; travel percentage is adjustable to the candidate's needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience at a growth-stage company helping build the pre-sales function, playbooks, or POC process.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, Microsoft SC-300, AZ-500, or MD-102, Okta certifications, or Citrix/VMware credentials.
  • Prior experience selling into financial services, healthcare, or other regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise technical discovery with Account Executives, mapping customer identity, endpoint, VDI, network, and data-protection environments as well as business and compliance drivers.
  • Design solutions for complex environments integrating with Microsoft 365/Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, Google Workspace, existing VDI, VPN and ZTNA, endpoint tools, and DLP tools; document reference architectures for customer review.
  • Own proofs of concept and technical evaluations, define success criteria with customers, run evaluations end to end, and translate results into a clear business case.
  • Lead security questionnaires, RFP and RFI technical responses, architecture reviews, and compliance mapping with customer security, risk, and legal teams.
  • Deliver technical presentations for engineers and architects and value-focused presentations for CISOs, CIOs, and executive sponsors.
  • Develop business cases comparing Venn with incumbent approaches such as VDI, VPN, and managed devices, including cost, user experience, and risk reduction.
  • Track competitors and industry trends, and position Venn against VDI, DaaS, VPN, browser isolation, and MDM-based approaches to secure BYOD.
  • Build demo environments, POC playbooks, battlecards, and reusable solution content, and mentor junior Sales Engineers.
  • Provide structured customer and competitive feedback to Product and Engineering to inform the roadmap, and support customers from evaluation through handoff to Customer Success.
  • Represent Venn as a subject matter expert at webinars, conferences, and industry events.
