About The Position

The Corporate Development team at Nerdio functions as an internal R&D and AI engineering hub, responsible for developing automations, AI agents, AI-powered tools, and full-stack internal applications to enhance the efficiency and intelligence of all other teams. This team also manages the data warehouse that supports company-wide reporting and analytics. This role serves as the technical lead for the Corporate Development team. The individual will be a hands-on builder and a team multiplier, contributing to the development of prototypes and production-grade internal applications while also defining the team's technical direction. Responsibilities include stewarding the data warehouse with data engineers and coaching colleagues on the effective use of modern AI development tooling. The role is exceptionally broad, encompassing tasks such as designing agentic workflows, reviewing code, conducting training sessions on AI development tools, and presenting new internal product ideas to leadership. This position is ideal for a senior individual who can own architecture, guide development, foster team growth, and actively promote the team's contributions across the company.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • Deep understanding of AI-driven development, including the ability to read, critique, and reason about AI-generated code, own design, and identify AI errors.
  • Strong full-stack development skills in TypeScript/JavaScript and at least one scripting language (Python, PowerShell, or Bash).
  • Demonstrated experience designing and shipping AI-powered applications, including agentic systems, tool use/MCP, RAG, or LLM-driven automation.
  • Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure deployment targets, including App Service/Container Apps/Functions, networking, and identity (Entra ID).
  • Strong CI/CD discipline using GitHub or comparable platforms, including authoring and maintaining pipelines, managing environments, and enforcing release quality.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and data warehousing concepts; comfortable collaborating with data engineers on warehouse design and data quality.
  • Proven track record of leading small, senior technical teams (as team lead, tech lead, or principal engineer with lead responsibilities).
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with modern agent frameworks and SDKs (Claude Agents SDK, Microsoft Agents SDK).
  • Experience building internal developer platforms or productivity tooling within a software company.

  • Background in DevOps/platform engineering (Docker, Infrastructure-as-Code, observability).
  • Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001) at an engineering level.

Responsibilities

  • Own Nerdio's internal R&D roadmap for AI, automation, and tooling, transforming business problems into working prototypes and production-grade systems.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new AI models, frameworks, SDKs, and developer tools.
  • Manage a rapid prototype-to-production cycle, emphasizing fast iteration and data-driven decision-making.
  • Design and build AI agents and agentic workflows, including multi-agent orchestration, tool/function calling, MCP integrations, and RAG pipelines.
  • Develop AI-powered internal tools to enhance specific workflows across engineering, sales, support, operations, and compliance.
  • Define patterns, guardrails, and reference architectures for AI development and deployment within Nerdio.
  • Build and maintain full-stack internal web applications using TypeScript/Node.js, React, and PostgreSQL.
  • Deploy and operate applications on Microsoft Azure, utilizing services like App Service, Container Apps, Functions, ACR, Key Vault, and Entra ID.
  • Manage the CI/CD process using GitHub Actions, including environment management, secret handling, and release hygiene.
  • Share ownership of the internal data warehouse, contributing to architectural direction, data quality, access patterns, and integration with AI and reporting use cases.
  • Ensure the data warehouse serves as a reliable foundation for analytics, dashboards, and AI-driven internal products.
  • Act as the technical lead for the Corporate Development team, setting technical direction, reviewing designs and code, and making architectural trade-off decisions.
  • Coach team members and colleagues on the effective use of AI development tools like Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, and agentic frameworks.
  • Conduct internal training sessions, demos, and office hours to improve AI and automation literacy across the company.
  • Identify and advocate for individual development opportunities within the team to foster growth into senior technical roles.
  • Act as an internal evangelist for the Corporate Development team, promoting its work to encourage adoption and generate demand for new solutions.
  • Generate and champion new ideas for internal products, automations, and AI tools to improve company efficiency and growth.
  • Build cross-departmental relationships to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement.
  • Present Corporate Development initiatives, prototypes, and results to leadership and the wider company.
  • Maintain working knowledge of application and cloud security, collaborating with the security function as needed.
