About The Position

This role is for a Solutions Architect within the AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) practice, focusing on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) sector. The position involves helping DoD organizations implement cloud computing solutions, solve technical problems using AWS technologies, and understand application architectures and integration approaches. The Solutions Architect will own the technical engagement and success of specific implementation projects, define architectures, provide input for RFIs and RFPs, develop deep expertise in AWS services, and act as a subject matter expert on security. The role also includes capturing and sharing best-practice knowledge within the AWS solutions architect community and collaborating with technical experts across enterprise architecture.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
  • 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
  • 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience.
  • Bachelor's degree, or CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or Cloud+ or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).
  • Must be a US Citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
  • Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
  • Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
  • Executive Speaking and Presentation Skills – White board, small and large group presentations.
  • Technical – Experience with web applications services development/deployment, DevOps/DevSecOps, cloud computing, data and database architectures and analytics, or networking.
  • Operational – Web site/services operations, management, and security.
  • Economic and business – RFP/Acquisition support; technical architecture; understanding market trends; cost benefit analysis.
  • Advisory/Consulting experience with Defense Department customers.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects.
  • Defining implementation architectures.
  • Providing inputs to RFI and RFP responses.
  • Developing deep expertise in AWS technologies and broad know-how around application and service construction on the AWS platform.
  • Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.
  • Providing thoughtful technical design and offering sensitivity to customer needs in the Defense markets for cloud computing.
  • Leading efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community.
  • Learning from, collaborating with, and educating technical minds in the industry.
  • Creating, building, educating, training, and designing cloud computing architectures, especially for Defense Department customers.
