Solutions Architect - AWS WWPS DOD, Joint DoD SA
About The Position
This role is for a Solutions Architect within Amazon Web Services (AWS) World Wide Public Sector (WWPS) practice, focusing on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Joint DoD SA. The position involves helping DoD organizations implement cloud computing solutions, solve technical problems using AWS technologies, and guide customers through application architectures and integration approaches. The Solutions Architect will own technical engagements, define implementation architectures, contribute to RFI/RFP responses, develop deep expertise in AWS services, and act as a subject matter expert on security for customer applications. The role also includes capturing and sharing best practices within the AWS solution architect community and collaborating with other technical professionals.
Requirements
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
- 4+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience.
- Bachelor's degree, or CASP+ (Comp CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or Cloud+ or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).
Nice To Haves
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries.
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud.
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective.
- Executive Speaking and Presentation Skills – White board, small and large group presentations.
- Technical – Experience with web applications services development/deployment, DevOps/DevSecOps, cloud computing, data and database architectures and analytics, or networking.
- Operational – Web site/services operations, management, and security.
- Economic and business – RFP/Acquisition support; technical architecture; understanding market trends; cost benefit analysis.
- Advisory/Consulting experience with Defense Department customers.
Responsibilities
- Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects.
- Defining implementation architectures.
- Providing inputs to RFI and RFP responses.
- Developing deep expertise in AWS technologies and broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform.
- Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.
- Providing thoughtful technical design and offering sensitivity to customer needs in the Defense markets for cloud computing.
- Leading efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community.
- Learning from, collaborating with, and educating bright technical minds in the industry.
- Creating, building, educating, training and designing cloud computing architectures, especially for Defense Department customers.
- Engaging in deep-dive technical discussions around design.
- Keeping technical skills current while maintaining a pulse on industry trends.
