About The Position
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a highly motivated Solutions Architect to join the World Wide Public Sector practice and accelerate its growing U.S. War Department business. This role offers an opportunity to work with world-class technical teams, develop skills, and advance a career within a leading technology company. The Solutions Architect will help shape and deliver a strategy to increase the adoption of Amazon's utility computing web services by customers, system integrators, and solution providers. Responsibilities include owning technical engagements, defining implementation architectures, responding to RFPs, developing deep expertise in AWS technologies and the AWS platform, and serving as a subject matter expert on security for customer applications and services. The role involves providing technical design and thought leadership to the Defense markets, capturing and sharing best-practice knowledge within the AWS solution architect community, and collaborating with industry experts. The ideal candidate will have experience with industry best practices for security, standards, and compliance in designing large-scale cloud computing solutions.
Requirements
- 4+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 4+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Experience in technology/software sales, pre-sales, or consulting
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
- US Citizen
- Maintain an active Top Secret security clearance
Nice To Haves
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
- Familiarity with security best practices for applications, servers, and networks
- Experience working with industry best practices for security, standards and compliance for designing large scale cloud computing solutions
Responsibilities
- Owning the technical engagement and ultimate success around specific implementation projects
- Defining implementation architectures
- Responding to RFPs
- Developing a deep expertise in the AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform
- Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services
- Providing exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Defense markets for cloud computing
- Working with a world class sales and business development team
- Leading efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the AWS solution architect community
- Gaining the opportunity to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture
- Creating, building, educating, training and designing cloud computing architectures for our War Department customers
- Executive Speaking and Presentation Skills – White board, small and large group presentations
- Technical – Web Services development/deployment experience, cloud computing
- Operational – Web site/services operations, management, and security
- Economic and business – RFP/Acquisition support; Technical architecture; understanding market trends; cost benefit analysis
- Advisory/Consulting experience with Defense Department customers
