About The Position

As an Enterprise Solutions Architect at ClickHouse, you will own the technical side of the sales cycle for enterprise accounts in the North Central United States. The role serves the Enterprise segment across the region, with Minneapolis or Chicago identified as ideal locations. You will work with data platform engineers, architects, SREs, security stakeholders, and executives to design solutions that meet their needs and demonstrate that they can work at production scale. A central focus is making migrations from incumbent systems credible through sound architecture, benchmarks using customer data, and an executable migration plan. You will lead technical evaluations from discovery through proof of concept or competitive bake-off, architecture approval, security review, and the first production workload. You will also partner with Enterprise AEs on opportunities, advocate for customer needs internally, and create materials that help the team scale successful approaches.

Requirements

  • Deep technical foundation in data infrastructure, gained as a data engineer, platform engineer, software engineer, DBA, or solutions architect.
  • Production experience with analytical databases such as ClickHouse, Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Druid, Pinot, or Vertica, including operating them.
  • Distributed systems judgment, including partitioning, replication, consistency trade-offs, and query execution, with an understanding of how systems fail under load.
  • Fluency across the modern data stack, including Kafka and CDC pipelines, orchestration, object storage, BI tools, and architecture-level knowledge of at least one major cloud: AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Experience running and winning a technical evaluation against a named competitor, including designing a migration off the incumbent.
  • Customer-facing experience with meaningful stakes, such as pre-sales, consulting, technical account management, or a staff-level engineering role involving customers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with staff engineers and VPs of Engineering.
  • Comfort managing longer enterprise sales cycles and multiple stakeholders.
  • Willingness to say when ClickHouse is not the right tool for a workload.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior pre-sales experience is helpful but not required.

  • Compete against Elasticsearch, Splunk, Snowflake, BigQuery, Druid, Pinot, and homegrown systems using benchmarks that the customer's team can reproduce.
  • Own migration plans, including sequencing, dual-run, validation, and cutover.
  • Support security and procurement reviews with questionnaires, compliance artifacts, network and identity architecture, and BYOC or private deployment requirements.
  • Partner with Enterprise AEs to progress and close opportunities, owning the technical win and jointly building the TCO case against incumbents and competitors.
