Solution Architect

TabsNew York, NY

About The Position

Tabs is hiring a Solution Architect to design custom workflows, integrations, and platform extensions for our most complex and highest-value customers. You'll be a key member of the Product Delivery team, shaping how we solve novel customer problems on the Tabs platform. In this role, you'll be the person customers and internal teams turn to when a use case doesn't fit neatly into the product. You'll dig into customer requirements, evaluate what's possible with existing Tabs functionality versus what needs to be built, and design the solution — mapping data flows, integration points, and workflows across the customer's stack and ours. You'll translate complex business needs into clear technical approaches that our Product Delivery, Implementation, and Engineering teams can actually deliver against. This role is foundational to how Tabs scales. The patterns you define, the tradeoffs you make, and the solutions you architect shape both individual customer outcomes and the long-term direction of our product. You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering to surface gaps, influence the roadmap, and help make sure the bespoke work we do today becomes the reusable capability of tomorrow.

Requirements

  • Experience in solutions architecture, forward-deployed engineering, implementation engineering, technical project management, or a similar role where you owned the design of customer-facing solutions.
  • Experience designing integrations across multiple systems (ERPs, CRMs, billing, payments, tax, or similar), ideally in fintech, SaaS, or B2B environments.
  • Strong systems and API fluency — you can read documentation, reason about data models and edge cases, and design workflows that hold up under real customer usage. You don't need to be a full-time engineer, but you should be comfortable getting hands-on where it matters.
  • Track record of surfacing customer and field signal to influence product and engineering priorities.
  • Strong cross-functional communicator with experience partnering across GTM, Product, Engineering, and customer stakeholders.
  • Comfort operating in a startup environment with imperfect requirements, evolving priorities, and high customer expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SQL and light scripting (Python or similar) for investigation, prototyping, and validating designs.
  • Background in finance, accounting, or revenue operations — or experience implementing platforms that touch those workflows (billing, revenue recognition, AR, close).
  • Experience integrating with ERPs like NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or QuickBooks, or CRMs like Salesforce or HubSpot.
  • Exposure to ASC 606 or other revenue recognition frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design solutions for complex customer builds: Own the technical design for challenging Product Delivery projects — mapping customer requirements to data models, API workflows, and integration patterns across ERPs, CRMs, payment processors, tax engines, and other systems in the customer stack.
  • Be a key voice in scoping conversations: Partner with sales, implementation, and customer success during pre-sales and kickoff to pressure-test feasibility, size complexity honestly, and prevent scope surprises later. Say no when the answer should be no, and propose an alternative when it shouldn't.
  • Define and evolve integration patterns: Turn one-off solutions into reusable playbooks. Identify what should stay bespoke, what should be templated for the PD team, and what should be productized by Engineering.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering: Bring sharp signal from the field back into the roadmap. Escalate gaps, advocate for platform investments, and collaborate on the design of new API and platform capabilities that unlock harder customer use cases.
  • Guide execution across projects: Work alongside FDEs and Product Delivery teammates as they build. Review approaches, unblock design decisions, and step in on the hardest problems without taking over ownership.
  • Investigate the messy middle: Get hands-on in customer environments and third-party systems to diagnose issues, validate assumptions, and de-risk designs before commitments are made.
  • Document what works: Capture patterns, anti-patterns, and lessons learned so the team compounds knowledge over time.
