About The Position

The Solution Architect – MSP Pre Sales Engineering is a senior, customer facing technical role responsible for leading discovery, assessment, and solution design activities that support AllManage’s Managed Services (MSP) sales and customer lifecycle. This role ensures opportunities are accurately scoped, technical risks are identified early, and solutions are designed to support long term client success, operational excellence, and margin sustainability. The Solution Architect partners closely with Sales, MSP Leadership, Service Delivery, and Engineering teams to translate complex customer environments into clear, actionable proposals, scopes of work, and technical roadmaps. This is a hands on role requiring strong technical depth, structured thinking, and the ability to communicate confidently with both technical and non technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive IT experience in MSP, consulting, or enterprise environments
  • Strong working knowledge of: Windows Server and Active Directory. Microsoft 365 and Azure fundamentals. Networking (switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs). Backup, disaster recovery, and security best practices.
  • Experience running and interpreting infrastructure and network assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly identify technical risk and operational impact.
  • Strong customer facing communication skills with both technical and non technical audiences.
  • Confidence leading structured, on site discovery conversations.
  • Clear, concise technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Leadership, and Engineering teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in MSP pre sales, solution architecture, or technical consulting roles.
  • Familiarity with MSP service design, onboarding, and operational workflows.
  • Relevant certifications (preferred, not required), such as: Microsoft (Microsoft 365, Azure) Networking (CCNA or equivalent) Security (Security+, or similar) TOGAF® (Enterprise or Solution Architecture) ITIL® v4 Foundation or higher Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) Business analysis or solution design certifications (e.g., IIBA CCBA / CBAP)

Responsibilities

  • Lead on site and remote technical discovery sessions for prospective Managed Services customers.
  • Conduct structured current state assessments of: Network infrastructure (switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs). Servers, virtualization platforms, and identity services. Cloud services (Microsoft 365, Azure, and related workloads). Security posture, backup, disaster recovery, and end user environments.
  • Operate and interpret RapidFire Network Detection and similar assessment tools.
  • Identify technical risks, gaps, lifecycle constraints, and environmental complexity that impact service design, onboarding effort, and pricing.
  • Translate discovery findings into: Accurate Managed Services scopes of work. Clear assumptions, dependencies, and exclusions. Risk aware recommendations aligned to AllManage service standards.
  • Collaborate with Sales and MSP Leadership to: Align technical findings with proposed services. Support pricing accuracy and margin protection.
  • Ensure proposed solutions are: Supportable at scale by the MSP organization. Aligned to AllManage standards and tooling. Realistic for onboarding, transition, and long term service delivery.
  • Ensure clean, well documented handoffs from pre sales into onboarding, project, and service delivery teams.
  • Develop high level technical roadmaps for: New customers onboarding to Managed Services. Existing customers approaching renewal. Technology modernization and upsell opportunities.
  • Support renewal readiness by validating current state environments against contracted services.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor during strategic customer conversations when needed.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point during onboarding or early lifecycle transitions as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the development of standardized discovery templates, assessment frameworks, and documentation.
  • Improve consistency between pre sales commitments and delivery execution.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Supervisors, Engineers, and MSP Leadership as needed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of MSP service design, discovery, and onboarding processes.
