About The Position

As a Civil Engineering Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc., in our Waste Management Practice in the Pittsburgh office, you’ll manage projects primarily associated with waste facilities. You’ll be an integral member of our team working on a variety of civil engineering and environmental science projects. You will lead projects through all phases of development, from planning and design through permitting, construction administration, and final certification, working with an established team of professionals to solve problems, reduce risk and costs, optimize performance, and satisfy client needs. You’ll manage project teams to be responsible for calculating airspace and earthwork volumes; preparing and reviewing technical reports; designing stormwater management systems, leachate management systems, and landfill gas collection systems; and performing geotechnical analyses. In addition, you will prepare and review landfill grading plans, construction drawings, and technical specifications. You will be responsible for the management of construction quality assurance projects including landfill cell liner/leachate collection systems, gas collection systems, cap construction, and environmental monitoring of landfill facilities. You’ll be directly responsible for developing proposals, preparing project budgets and schedules, managing engineering staff, performing quality control reviews, and successfully delivering projects. While interacting with clients, contractors, and state regulatory officials, you will lead all phases of project execution, including planning, design, regulatory approvals, and construction administration. In addition, you will partner with your fellow managers and Principals to mentor staff and support their professional development through annual performance reviews, coaching, and the establishment of career development goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of professional engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, staffing, and client coordination
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.) strongly preferred
  • Experience with HELP Model, HydroCAD, Slide, KYPipe, and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies, contractors, and clients preferred
  • Desire to learn, grow professionally, and apply new skills
