SolarCorps Workforce Technical Training Fellow
About The Position
The SolarCorps Fellowship Program is an 11-month paid service term opportunity for motivated individuals to gain experience in the renewable energy and non-profit sectors while contributing to communities disproportionately affected by environmental and economic injustice. GRID Alternatives, a national leader in making clean, affordable solar power and solar jobs accessible to low-income communities and communities of color, offers this fellowship as part of the AmeriCorps network. The program focuses on workforce development initiatives, training members to support solar job training programs by teaching curriculum, assisting with recruitment, and providing placement support. Fellows gain transferable skills in solar installation and program management.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older
- 11-month commitment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to represent GRID Alternatives positively
- Comfortable being part of a team
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and decision-making skills
- Interest and enthusiasm for renewable energy, community development, and helping families and communities in need.
- Availability for an in-person Mid-Year weeklong Career Readiness Retreat in California
Nice To Haves
- Clean, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong computer skills such as Microsoft Office, Google, Calendaring
Responsibilities
- Assist in teaching solar and clean energy workshops and labs
- Attend local events to promote community awareness of GRID’s training programs
- Assist in trainee installation days
- Participate in solar installations

- Stipend pay of $40,800 over 11 months
