SolarCorps Construction Fellow
About The Position
The SolarCorps Fellowship Program is an 11-month paid service term opportunity for motivated individuals to gain experience in the renewable energy and non-profit sectors while contributing to communities disproportionately affected by environmental and economic injustice. GRID Alternatives, a national leader in making clean, affordable solar power accessible to low-income communities and communities of color, offers this fellowship as part of the AmeriCorps network. The program focuses on direct solar installation, project development, clean mobility, workforce training, and policy advocacy, aiming for a rapid and equitable transition to renewable energy for everyone.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or legal permanent resident alien of the United States.
- Must be 18 years or older
- 11-month commitment
- Clean, valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work outdoors, on rooftops, and in extreme temperatures.
- A passion for environmental justice and clean energy
- Willingness to learn skills on the job
- Be comfortable in working with diverse communities
- Excellent organizational and communication skills

Responsibilities
- Participate in solar PV installation, service calls, inspections, site visits and system commissioning
- Support in material procurement preparation for staging and load equipment before and after installation projects
- Assist staff with installation package preparation
- Help organize and maintain project information in Salesforce
- Support in all aspects of single-family residential solar PV design and permitting
- Support the job training program
Benefits
- Stipend pay of $40,800 over 11 months (Approx $21.40/hr)
- Segal AmeriCorps Education Award of $10,000 upon successful completion of fellowship (after completing 1700 hours of service)
