Solar Quality Specialist
About The Position
Kokosing is seeking a Solar Quality Specialist to perform quality control duties overseeing the construction and maintenance of Solar installations on a wide variety of projects. This role involves ensuring adherence to project plans and specifications, maintaining an effective quality control system, and preparing accurate documentation of all quality control activities. The specialist will also write and submit quality inspection and testing plans, assist with maintaining procedures and protocols that meet industry standards, and support the project team with work plan preparation. A key aspect of this role is communicating with project management and superintendents regarding work execution, including stopping work if necessary to ensure quality standards are met. The specialist will also ensure subcontractors and vendors meet quality requirements and provide necessary documentation, perform onsite and offsite quality inspections, and provide technical advice for design, construction, or program modifications. Periodic quality reports will be provided to management, and opportunities for improvement will be recommended on both project and company-wide bases.
Requirements
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in a quality control role, electrical, solar installation, or solar/electrical commissioning.
- Read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawings and documents.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with people of all knowledge levels.
- Work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
- Control the quality specified in the project plans and specifications.
- Maintain an effective project quality control system.
- Prepare and submit accurate documentation of all quality control activities.
- Write and submit quality inspection and testing plans.
- Assist with maintaining procedures and protocol that meet industry standards.
- Assist the project team with preparation and submittal of work plans.
- Communicate with the Project Manager, Project Superintendent(s), and other project team members regarding the execution of the work including stopping work if required to ensure that the required quality standards are met.
- Ensure that subcontractors and vendors provide the required quality of work including all required documentation.
- Perform or participate in onsite and offsite quality inspections of all self-perform work, subcontracted work elements, and select fabricators/vendors.
- Provide technical advice regarding design, construction, or program modifications and continuous improvement to industrial and managerial personnel.
- Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to design specifications and safety.
- Provide periodic quality reports to management with sufficient detail to describe the overall quality health of the project.
- Recommend Opportunities for Improvement on a Project and Company wide basis.
