Solar Construction Manager

FluidstackAustin, TX
$130,000 - $230,000Onsite

About The Position

Fluidstack is building civilization-scale infrastructure for AI and is singularly focused on delivering 10 to 100s of GWs of compute faster than anyone else. We acquire power, design and build data centers, and operate them. We are looking for individuals who care deeply about this problem space and want to be part of building this infrastructure. How We Operate: - Extreme ownership: Full autonomy, owning things end to end and taking on scope outside your core role without being asked. - Velocity: Driving everything forward as fast as possible. - First principles: Challenging every assumption, zero analogy thinking, no egos, the best idea wins. - Love of the game: Working long hours at high intensity to push the frontier of AI forward. The Construction Team is working on key problems such as deploying gigawatts of power faster than anyone, inventing how gigawatts get built by removing traditional construction management inefficiencies, and productizing the data center for repeatable, modular builds to achieve scale.

Requirements

  • Managed utility-scale solar, solar-plus-storage, or high-voltage substation construction from mobilization through commercial operation, with projects delivered on schedule.
  • Ability to coordinate civil, racking, PV, electrical, and BESS scopes simultaneously while tracking trade positions relative to the critical path.
  • Experience enforcing safety, including writing and executing site safety plans, holding subcontractors accountable, and managing documentation.
  • Proactive identification of long-lead equipment risks, SCADA integration gaps, and interconnection milestone conflicts before they impact the schedule.
  • Proficiency in building and driving integrated schedules in Primavera P6 or MS Project.
  • Ability to provide reporting specific enough for a project manager to act on the same day.

Nice To Haves

  • Utility-scale BESS construction experience.
  • Substation and gen-tie scope experience.
  • Multi-site concurrent delivery experience.
  • OSHA 30 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day site execution for utility-scale solar and BESS projects, orchestrating EPC contractors, civil crews, electrical trades, and equipment vendors to deliver safe, on-schedule, on-budget facilities from mobilization through energization.
  • Build, maintain, and drive integrated construction schedules (Primavera P6, MS Project) across civil, structural, electrical, BESS, substation, and gen-tie scopes, and issue recovery plans the moment a critical path slips.
  • Enforce the site safety program and hold every subcontractor to a zero-incident standard, from pre-mobilization safety plans through final punch list.
  • Coordinate civil, racking, PV, inverter, BESS, and MV/HV electrical trades in real time, resolving field conflicts before they hit the schedule, and manage QA/QC, RFI, submittal, and change-order workflows to close-out.
  • Track and report daily progress, earned value, cost-to-complete, and resource loading to the Project Manager, and surface procurement risks on long-lead equipment (transformers, switchgear, inverters) early enough to act on them.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).
  • Retirement or pension plan.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous PTO policy.
  • Stock options.
