WSP is currently seeking an experienced Soils Inspector Senior Coordinator to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. This position is imminent and qualified candidates are encouraged to apply immediately. The qualified candidate(s) will work at various client construction project sites in the Los Angeles and Orange County areas inspecting and assessing construction activities. This role involves assisting with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, structural plans, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, flow diagrams, material sampling, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for field inspection activities. Under minimal supervision, the inspector will use survey instruments, metering devices, and test equipment to perform basic inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, construction, materials, controls, resources, layout, alignment, and elevation to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, codes, and construction or operating permits. The role provides routine technical assistance that accounts for the proper inspection, construction, and functioning of buildings, highways, roads, bridges, structures, infrastructure, equipment, and/or mechanical systems according to design standard specifications. The inspector will also assist with verifying load calculations, change orders, interpretation of contract plans and specifications, recognizing basic construction, engineering, or survey problems and escalating any differences, errors, or technical problems for appropriate resolution. Additionally, the role involves attending pre-construction meetings, assisting with answering questions from contractors and other attendees, and helping to calculate payments due to contractors for work completed. The inspector will also assist with ensuring adequate levels of equipment and materials are assigned to projects, ensuring that material tests are performed, and materials meet required standards. The position requires generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation and specifications related to inspection findings using electronic systems, written/oral feedback, photographs, drawings, diagrams, illustrations, spreadsheets, and reports. Compliance with client policies and procedures for inspection work under contract, and adherence to safety guidelines and site-specific procedures are essential. The role also includes completing training on assigned tasks and exhibiting basic knowledge of current field inspection practices. Collaboration with other professionals, scientists, engineers, inspectors, project control, and technicians on assigned inspection phases, checks, and tasks is expected. The inspector must exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required by business needs.
