About The Position

RFA Engineering is seeking an Entry-Mid Level Software Validation Engineer to join their team. This role will support the integration, verification, and validation of autonomous vehicle hardware and software systems. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure system requirements are met, software releases are successfully integrated into machine platforms, and validation activities are completed to support safe, reliable product performance. The position involves systems engineering, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation throughout the product development lifecycle. This is a full-time, onsite position with a full benefit package.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
2+ years of experience in software validation, systems integration, embedded systems, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or related engineering disciplines.
Experience developing and executing verification and validation plans, test procedures, and test documentation.
Working knowledge of software development lifecycles, system integration, and requirements management processes.
Experience troubleshooting hardware and software issues in development, lab, or field environments.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including software, systems, controls, and program management.
Strong technical documentation and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience with autonomous systems, off-highway equipment, robotics, machine control systems, or embedded software is preferred.
Familiarity with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), data collection, and test automation tools is preferred.
Describes tasks, tools and practices for converting software product requirements into a design.
Demonstrates experience with all phases and deliverables of the product development methodology.
Implements the generic functions, features and facilities of modern structured methods.
Explores and evaluates major structured methodologies available in the marketplace.
Has experience with planning and executing full spectrum of tests for multiple products.
Provides input to design team to ensure testing considerations are incorporated into system design.
Creates test scenarios that ensure all error handling processes perform as expected.
Defines, creates, and executes test plans and cases; estimates time, effort and resources required.
Explains approaches and tools for functional, reliability, and vulnerability testing.

Responsibilities

Work closely with Autonomy Systems integration engineers to ensure the product architecture requirements are fulfilled.
Work with Technical program managers and Application Architects to ensure that program requirements are being met (time, cost, quality).
Ensure that base machine software changes are delivered on time for command for hauling releases.
Support Field data collection kits activities, including design support, procurement, shipping to site, and data collection.
Document architecture specifications, software design description, verification plans, test cases, operating procedures, and safety procedures.
Assist in the verification and validation process, including supporting/troubleshooting hardware in the loop and proving ground test and development.
Participate in design and development of application software and algorithms for robotic platforms.
