About The Position

The Software QA Tester will test an enterprise application designed to help residents, businesses, and visitors navigate driver’s license processes and support a comprehensive digital government experience for the District of Columbia. The role tests new or updated software applications against project objectives and business requirements, and helps ensure application requirements are covered and validated in an Agile team environment.

The tester participates throughout the development lifecycle, from design through deployment. Work includes reviewing and analyzing requirements, creating and automating test cases, executing tests, validating results, and documenting defects. The role collaborates with project management, clients, developers, operations, and other internal departments, and communicates identified issues to the project team. It also involves testing reports, using SQL to validate data, API testing, and interpreting wireframes in Figma or XD.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of required experience overall.
• 6 years of experience with Micro Focus Test Tools ALM.
• 6 years of experience with Jira.
• 10 years of experience testing reports.
• 10 years of SQL skills, including writing queries to fetch data from PS tables and validate table data for testing.
• 10 years of experience collaborating with project management, clients, and developers throughout testing.
• 10 years of experience participating in the full development lifecycle from design through deployment.
• 8 years of experience reviewing requirements, writing and executing test cases, and creating defects.
• At least 6 years adapting functional business requirements or processes to technical solutions based on enterprise application solution sets.
• At least 6 years of experience in one or more of investment analysis, data warehousing, e-commerce, ROI analysis, HR analysis, or information dissemination.
• Must qualify for a STaR2 Journeyman Labor Category.
• Must attend an in-person interview.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with ERP management processes such as knowledge management, supply chain management, materials management, logistics, and procurement; listed as highly desired, with 10 years stated.

Responsibilities

• Test customized software application solutions to support business functions, project objectives, client requirements, and company goals.
• Write automated test scripts based on user stories and develop a testing methodology.
• Review and analyze requirements; write, automate, and execute test cases; and create defects.
• Communicate defects and issues to the project team and collaborate with project management, clients, developers, and other team members throughout testing.
• Use database knowledge and schemas to validate test results, including writing SQL queries to fetch and validate table data.
• Perform API testing and understand wireframes in Figma or XD.
• Interact with clients, managers, and end users to analyze project objectives and capability requirements, including user interfaces, customized applications, and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Collaborate with development, operations, and other internal departments to ensure applications support functionality and performance needs.
• Maintain a flexible and proactive work environment in response to changing project requirements and customer objectives.
