About The Position

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) is seeking an experienced Software QA Engineer to lead automated and manual testing efforts for enterprise web applications. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated test frameworks while ensuring the quality, reliability, accessibility, and performance of applications throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Requirements

7+ years testing complex web applications
7+ years working across all phases of the SDLC
6+ years writing advanced SQL queries
6+ years automation testing using Java & TestNG
4+ years building automation frameworks using Playwright
4+ years performance testing with JMeter, WAPT Pro, or equivalent
3+ years using GitHub Copilot or AI tools for test automation
3+ years workflow-driven automation experience

Responsibilities

Analyze business and technical requirements to create detailed test plans and test cases.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Java, TestNG, and Playwright.
Execute automated functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Perform manual testing and data validation.
Write and execute complex SQL queries for backend validation.
Report, document, and track defects through their lifecycle.
Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure application quality.
Perform performance testing using tools such as JMeter, WAPT Pro, or similar.
Conduct accessibility testing.
Utilize AI-assisted testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate automation development.
Support QA activities across multiple TEA projects.
