About The Position

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is hiring a Software Programmer at the National Marine Training Center in St. Augustine, FL. Qualified candidates must be U.S. citizens and be required to undergo a background check. This role involves supporting the Customs and Border Protection’s Unmanned Aircraft System (CBP UAS) Program Office by utilizing the Customs Automated Inventory and Maintenance Tracking System (CAMITS) to track maintenance-related information for vessels and the MQ-9 Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). The programmer will work closely with the primary CAMITS software programming team, recommend updates to the software, perform programming to troubleshoot and maintain system functionality, integrate new functionality, create technical diagrams, conduct tests, provide technical assistance, run diagnostics, install/modify/clean/repair hardware and software, and write/train manuals. The position also includes supporting helpdesk efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Must possess strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Possess strong ability to interpret problems and provide technical support for various hardware, software, and systems.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills are necessary to accomplish project support and to respond to inquiries from the client organizations’ computer users.
  • Experience in C++, C#, JavaScript, HTML, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, CSS, and Fireworks.
  • Experience with SAP Crystal Reports and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in maintaining and operating material tracking/inventory management systems and aircraft operation systems.
  • Must be able to comprehend CBP air operations concepts as they relate to the logistics, maintenance, and program management of the CBP AMO UAS program.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain all training, technical documentation, and lesson structures for agency’s active software applications.
  • Must be able to support upgrades, development, and implementation of new functionality to the system as NMC needs evolve.
  • Must be willing to work onsite 5 days/week (no flexibility for telework).
  • Qualified candidates must be a U.S. Citizen and undergo a background check to obtain a CBP BI.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Customs and Border Protection’s Unmanned Aircraft System (CBP UAS) Program Office
  • Utilize the Customs Automated Inventory and Maintenance Tracking System (CAMITS), to track maintenance related information for vessels and the MQ-9 Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).
  • Work closely with the primary CAMITS software programming team whose focus is maintenance and management of the core CAMITS CBP marine vessel maintenance tracking programs.
  • Recommend updates to the CAMITS software to meet maintenance needs, decrease organizational waste and eliminate cost inefficiencies.
  • Perform programming to troubleshoot and maintain system functionality.
  • Integrate new functionality into existing applications.
  • Create and publish technical diagrams to support coding efforts.
  • Confirm program operation by conducting tests; modifying program sequence and/or codes.
  • Provide technical assistance, support, and advice to clients and other users.
  • Run automatic diagnostics programs to resolve problems and find a solution.
  • Install, modify, clean, and repair computer hardware and software on regular intervals to maintain system efficiency.
  • Write and train manuals and train computer users in how to use new computer hardware and software.
  • Support helpdesk efforts by responding to telephone calls and e-mail messages from client organizations looking for help with computer problems.
