About The Position

Full Swing's software product practice covers the full product lifecycle, including writing and driving PRDs, maintaining a living roadmap, and managing market and competitive research to inform product development. The role calls for a hands-on understanding of the game and software, including simulation mechanics, the game engine, and underlying architecture. The Software Product Manager will help build a Software Product Center of Excellence by taking accountable ownership of unscoped work and establishing the roadmap discipline and product judgment needed to scale the practice.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience as a Product Manager within a software engineering organization, with direct ownership of shipped products.
  • Deep, hands-on knowledge of game engines such as Unity and simulation or game software architecture, gained through direct experience building or shipping a game or simulation product.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and drive PRDs from ambiguous, unscoped requests through shipped, resourced execution plans.
  • Ability to own multiple concurrent, sometimes competing initiatives across related but distinct product surfaces.
  • Independent technical command of the product and software sufficient to make and defend scope and prioritization decisions with engineering.
  • Experience with market and competitive research methods, such as customer interviews, sales feedback loops, surveys, and competitive site visits, and translating insights into product direction.
  • Excellent written communication and ability to produce clear, rigorous PRDs that engineering, design, and QA can execute without extensive back-and-forth.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical, business, or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Make product decisions for the game and software based on a deep understanding of simulation mechanics, the game engine, and software architecture.
  • Own PRDs end to end, from first draft through shipped release, including defining scope, timeline, and resourcing for unscoped initiatives.
  • Manage the Jira discovery board by capturing, triaging, and prioritizing ideas before they become PRDs.
  • Maintain a living product roadmap for assigned product lines, with scope and level of effort sized.
  • Make and defend scope and prioritization decisions across engineering, QA, and design.
  • Conduct market and competitive research, understand customers and the competitive landscape, and translate findings into product direction.
  • Communicate design requirements, review designs, and approve work before it moves into development.
  • Manage partner and vendor relationships for integrations and white-labeled products.
  • Run simulator demonstrations for internal teams, external partners, and prospects.
  • Serve as an escalation point for customer support issues requiring product judgment.
  • Provide Go/No-Go readiness input in partnership with QA and Release Management.
