About The Position

The Cigna Group’s Technology Development Program (TECDP) Software Engineering Summer Internship is a 12-week program designed for passionate individuals eager to make a difference in healthcare technology. Interns will work on impactful technology projects, receive comprehensive training, and benefit from invaluable mentorship. The program aims to provide hands-on experience in designing, building, and delivering scalable applications and platforms, fostering technical skill development and innovation. Participants will engage with peers, mentors, and cross-functional partners, and engage in structured learning through core and track-specific curriculum, including technical training and leadership development. Community building through networking events and collaboration is also a key component.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant coursework, projects, research, internships, hackathons, coding competitions, open-source contributions, or collaborative software development experience.
  • Foundational proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, or a comparable language.
  • Exposure to front-end, back-end, full-stack, application programming interface, database, cloud, testing, version control, or software development lifecycle concepts.
  • Familiarity with Git or another version control system and an interest in agile, collaborative development practices.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, solve problems, learn new tools, and work effectively with technical and nontechnical partners.
  • Must be available to work a 40-hour work week beginning May 24th, 2027.
  • Must be eligible for employment in the United States and not require visa sponsorship (including, but not limited to, H-1B, CPT/OPT/STEM).
  • Must be able to complete mandatory pre-employment tasks approximately 45 days prior to the program’s start date.
  • Must have availability within the United States during the pre-employment drug test timeframe.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to generative artificial intelligence tools used in software development, such as GitHub Copilot or Cursor, is preferred.
  • A GPA of 3.3 or higher is preferred.

Benefits

  • The anticipated hourly pay range for this role is $25.00 to $33.00 per hour.
