About The Position

Be part of the Cisco Common Hardware Group's QUAD (Quality and Diagnostics) team! This team works on Hyperscale network and Enterprise Data Center switches based on Cisco Silicon One ASIC. This is a unique opportunity to grow your technical skills and will allow for visibility and recognition across multi-functional teams within Cisco. In this role as Hardware Diagnostic Engineer, you will develop the diagnostics tests suites for cisco switches on Linux server using your embedded software development skills. You will work on new hardware system bring-up, collaborate with multi-functional teams including ASIC team, hardware team, vendors, and manufacturers to tackle complicated hardware issues and develop board support package (BSP) for ASIC bringing up and running SONiC. You will also support our manufacturing test team for failure analysis to improve product yield and shorten the test time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with at least 8+ years of professional experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 6+ years of professional experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience developing software using C/C++ and/or Python within a Linux environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in hardware-level programming and device driver development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Linux hardware bring-up and system integration.
  • Proven experience working with microcontrollers and embedded peripherals including: I2C, PCIe, SPI, and MDIO.

Nice To Haves

  • Linux kernel device driver development experience.
  • Understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols and technologies such as TCP/IP.
  • Experience with Networking ASICs and PHY testing.
  • Experience with testing SSD, USB, NVRAM, or eMMC.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Familiarity with secure-boot, open-source tools, CMIS, and SFF standards (SFP, QSFP).
  • Experience with software quality processes.
  • Experience supporting mass production test.
