About The Position

The Bluestaq Software Engineering Residency Program is an 11.5-week, paid, cohort-based program built around one goal: turning promising early-career developers into full-time Bluestaq Associate Software Engineers. Residents will work on real backlog items on systems used by U.S. Space Force customers, guided by a dedicated engineer-mentor, and will present their capstone work to Bluestaq engineering leadership. The program runs from January 11 through March 31, 2027, with residents working 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch. Successful completion may lead to a full-time Associate Software Engineer role, contingent on performance and business need.

Requirements

  • Software development experience through coursework, personal projects, bootcamp work, or prior internships.
  • Experience with software development and scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with front-end/back-end technologies, data storage solutions, and cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or MS Azure.
  • Capability of working in a team-centric environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Passion for big data technologies and excitement to work with cloud infrastructures.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Availability to work full-time on-site for the full program duration (January 11 – March 31, 2027).

Nice To Haves

  • Final-year undergraduate and master's students (graduating by January 2027).
  • Recent graduates in Computer Science, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience with languages and tools such as Java, Python, Angular, Groovy, REST Services, GIT, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Athena, NiFi, Quarkus.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud, MS Azure, and AWS.
  • Current TS/SCI Clearance holders are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Work on real backlog items on systems used by U.S. Space Force customers.
  • Contribute to impactful projects across multiple technology stacks.
  • Pair with experienced engineers to learn data storage solutions, front-end and back-end technologies, and cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Participate in structured milestones including an onboarding week, a midpoint demo, and a capstone presentation.
  • Present capstone work directly to Bluestaq engineering leadership.
