About The Position

Facilities Management eXpress (FMX) is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a Core Team. This player-coach role combines people management and technical contribution: the manager coaches and mentors software engineers, clarifies priorities and expectations, supports professional and technical growth, and contributes code through fixes, features, bug triage, and other non-mission-critical work. The role partners with product, design, QA, and engineering leaders to align work with business goals and deliver high-quality software while fostering an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture. The manager stays close to the team’s systems to guide architecture decisions and help unblock engineers. They champion operational excellence, including observability, CI/CD health, and production readiness, and establish practices and standards for AI-assisted development, code review, and testing. They also contribute to engineering leadership decisions and process evolution, work with product and design leads on priorities and long-term vision, and help recruit and onboard engineering talent. FMX is a remote-first company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, though the role requires working Eastern Time hours to attend daily team meetings. The company develops a cloud-based SaaS facility maintenance and management product serving education, property management, manufacturing, and other markets.
