About The Position

CivilGrid is a venture-backed SaaS construction tech company building the "Google Maps for the Underground." We aggregate public and proprietary utility, geotechnical, environmental, and jurisdictional data. The consolidated information is sold via our collaborative SaaS mapping platform to engineers and developers who need it to make early-stage decisions on real estate and infrastructure projects. As a small team, we all wear many hats and enjoy tackling new challenges. We're seeking an experienced engineering leader who thrives in a hands-on environment who’ll shape the direction of the engineering organization and how we operate as we scale. We don't expect you to have a background in everything we use, but we do expect strong technical skills, exceptional communication, and a track record of leading high-performing engineering teams through ambiguity and scale. We're looking for builders who still know how to code even if it's not part of the day-to-day.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years experience in engineering leadership
Proven track record of growing and managing high-performing engineering teams
Comfortable in a greenfield environment and excited to shape, design, and stand up new systems
Strong communication skills - verbal and written
Experience running high scale production systems

Nice To Haves

BS/MS in Computer Science or similar
Prior startup or founder experience

Responsibilities

Leading and developing a fast-paced engineering team, providing clear direction, feedback, mentorship, and coaching
Owning planning and execution across projects while helping engineers stay unblocked, focused, and aligned
Defining and evolving our hiring process, standards, and team structure as we grow
Building the processes, expectations, and culture that will support CivilGrid's next phase of growth
