Software Engineering Manager-Continuous Identity

CrowdStrike•Sunnyvale, CA
•$140,000 - $215,000•Hybrid

About The Position

CrowdStrike is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the SGNL backend engineering team within its Continuous Identity product group. SGNL is part of CrowdStrike's Continuous Identity control plane and provides real-time identity security across hybrid, multi-cloud, and SaaS environments. It replaces standing access with just-in-time access and continuous authorization, dynamically granting, adjusting, or revoking privileges based on live business and security context. SGNL also supports real-time Identity Threat Detection and Response by translating threat signals into immediate enforcement actions. The role involves building and scaling high-throughput pipelines that unify identity security across endpoints, SaaS platforms, browsers, and cloud resources, processing millions of events per second. It is a player-coach position: the primary focus is leading and growing the team, while also contributing code, prototyping solutions, and remaining involved in technical work. The manager will combine people leadership with technical excellence to build high-performing teams and systems that protect organizations from identity-based attacks. The role is hybrid and requires 2–3 days per week on-site at one of the posted locations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software development experience.
  • 2+ years leading backend cloud engineering teams.
  • Hands-on coding ability in Go, Python, or Java; Go is preferred.
  • Proven success building and scaling cloud-native microservices and distributed systems.
  • Familiarity with REST/gRPC, databases, Kubernetes, and event streaming such as Kafka.
  • Experience operating production services in cloud environments such as AWS, GCP, OCI, or Azure, including on-call and incident response.
  • Strong people leadership, hiring, mentoring, and Agile/Scrum delivery management skills.
  • Proven experience using AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency, and drive business outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in cybersecurity, Zero Trust, ITDR, PAM, identity protocols such as OAuth 2.0, OIDC, or SAML, or identity-based threat mitigations.
  • Experience with Shared Signals Framework (CAEP/RISC) or non-human/machine identities.
  • Familiarity with graph databases such as Neo4j, stream processing such as Kafka/Flink, or ML-based behavioral analytics.
  • Track record of building engineering teams and culture and leading major system migrations or integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and hire a high-performing backend engineering team; manage capacity, performance, and career development.
  • Drive day-to-day technical execution, unblock the team, and maintain alignment with broader product goals while guiding hands-on engineering efforts.
  • Drive architectural decisions for low-latency, scalable distributed systems, spending approximately 20–30% of the time prototyping, coding, and unblocking the team.
  • Lead architecture and design reviews to ensure systems are robust, scalable, and maintainable.
  • Establish engineering best practices, including CI/CD, code reviews, and testing, and manage service reliability, SLOs, and incident response.
  • Track key engineering metrics to foster continuous improvement and team performance.
  • Drive cross-functional planning and roadmapping in alignment with business goals and product strategy.
  • Partner with product management and peer engineering teams, including Falcon Identity Protection, Next-Gen SIEM, and Privileged Access, to align delivery and broader ecosystem integration.
  • Architect scalable, low-latency continuous identity evaluation and enforcement systems.
  • Ensure operational excellence, high service availability, and quick incident resolution for critical identity services.
  • Foster a collaborative culture of ownership, continuous learning, and technical excellence.
  • Attract, mentor, and retain top engineering talent.
