About The Position

Medtronic Neuroscience is focused on transforming care for patients with neurological, spinal, and chronic pain conditions. As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will provide organizational and technical leadership for multiple software engineering teams developing products and capabilities within a regulated medical technology environment. This role is responsible for building engineering talent, establishing technical direction, driving execution, and partnering with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-quality software solutions that support business and portfolio objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 5 years of people leadership experience.

  • Experience leading software development teams through the full software development lifecycle, including planning, delivery, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, product, quality, or regulatory stakeholders.
  • Experience developing software within a structured quality or regulated development environment.
  • Experience leading multiple software engineering teams, technical leads, or engineering managers.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms and services, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Experience in medical device software development or another highly regulated industry.
  • Knowledge of software lifecycle and quality standards, including International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 62304 and IEC 82304.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple software engineering teams and provide direction, coaching, and performance management for engineers, technical leads, and emerging leaders.
  • Establish engineering strategies, development practices, and technical standards that support scalable, secure, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Oversee software development activities across multiple programs, ensuring alignment to quality objectives, delivery commitments, and business priorities.
  • Partner with product, quality, regulatory, clinical, operations, and security stakeholders to define requirements, priorities, and implementation plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement through adoption of modern software engineering practices, automated testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Manage resource allocation, capacity planning, project dependencies, and risk mitigation activities across teams and programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable software development processes, regulatory requirements, and industry standards, including audit and inspection readiness.
  • Communicate program status, key metrics, risks, and strategic recommendations to engineering and business leadership.
