About The Position

Facilities Management eXpress (FMX) is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a Core Team and help shape its product, people, and engineering culture. This is a player-coach role: the manager coaches and mentors software engineers, clarifies priorities and expectations, supports their professional and technical growth, and contributes hands-on code, fixes, features, and triage work alongside the team. The manager partners with product, design, QA, and engineering leaders to align work with business goals and deliver high-quality software for customers. The role includes guiding architecture and staying familiar with the team’s systems, removing blockers, and championing operational excellence across observability, CI/CD health, and production readiness. The manager will help FMX build software in an AI-first environment by evaluating tools and setting practices and standards for AI-assisted coding, code review, and testing. They will also participate in engineering leadership decisions, help evolve processes, collaborate on priorities and long-term vision, and support hiring and onboarding. FMX is remote-first, with an office available for use and two company-wide events each year. The role requires working Eastern Time hours to attend daily team meetings. Working hours are described as flexible. FMX develops cloud-based SaaS facility maintenance and management software for education, property management, manufacturing, and other markets.
