About The Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) is hiring an Engineering Intern in Port Orchard, Washington. The role offers the opportunity to apply classroom-learned skills to technical projects supporting national defense services and high-stakes security missions. The intern will work with collaborative teams and customers to develop solutions for GDMS’s mission areas, while gaining experience alongside technically accomplished colleagues. The position offers a flexible work environment and opportunities to develop skills and take on increasing responsibilities.

Requirements

• Be enrolled in an accredited degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another related scientific or technical discipline.
• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of engineering technology.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance within a reasonable time and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

Nice To Haves

• Sophomore standing or higher in the degree program is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Java in a Linux environment.
• Clear understanding of engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards.
• Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly and handle increasing responsibilities with growing complexity.
