About The Position

Emerson’s Test & Measurement (T&M) Business Unit is seeking a Software Engineering Intern interested in desktop development to join its Platform Software R&D organization. The intern will help develop features in LabVIEW and contribute to award-winning products in a collaborative engineering environment. The role provides opportunities to take part in product research, design, development, documentation, testing, and team activities.

Requirements

Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a similar field.
Understanding of good software design and architecture principles, including data structures and object-oriented programming.
Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice To Haves

Experience programming in C++.
Experience using source code control, such as Git.
Experience working in the Azure DevOps environment.
Ability to diagnose technical issues, propose reasonable solutions, and enjoy problem solving.
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and be a self-starter.
Ability to persistently drive tasks and projects to successful completion.
Ability to take ownership of goals.
Ability to listen attentively and understand technical conversations.

Responsibilities

Participate in research, design, development, and documentation to deliver product features.
Collaborate with team members and project leaders on design discussions and code architecture.
Specify, design, and implement new product features.
Develop unit and automated functional tests to support code quality and prevent regressions.
Participate in standups, backlog reviews, retrospectives, and brainstorming sessions.
Explore and apply new technologies to improve infrastructure and processes.
